As Halloween approaches, the members of the North Highlands Fire Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely while enjoying the holiday.

With children out trick-or-treating and increased pedestrian traffic, we encourage everyone to follow a few simple safety tips:

- Be Visible: Wear bright or reflective costumes and carry a flashlight or glow stick.
- Stay Together: Young children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Watch for Traffic: Use sidewalks, cross streets safely, and always look both ways.
- Drive Carefully: Motorists should slow down and watch for children in residential neighborhoods.
- Practice Fire Safety: Use battery-operated candles in pumpkins and keep decorations away from open flames.
- Check Candy: Parents should inspect all treats before children eat them.

Halloween should be a fun and memorable night for everyone. Taking a few extra precautions can help prevent accidents and keep our community safe.

From all the members of the North Highlands Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!

Remember: Safety starts with YOU!
