North Highlands Fire Department along with Philipstown Ambulance and Putnam Medic 1 were dispatched on October 6th for a report of an ATV off the road/down a cliff in the area of Rt 9 and Countyside Motel. After a short search the location was updated to Mill Rd in the area of the gorge. Cold Spring Fire Department was quickly dispatched mutual aid by the Chief of NHFD for manpower to the scene along with Rombout Fire Department for a landing zone at the Countryside Motel. After stabilizing and packaging the patient into a stokes basket, members carried him approximately 60' up the rock ledge to the Ambulance. Philipstown Ambulance and Medic 1 transported the patient to Westchester Medical Center after New Hackensack Air 1 had to cancel because of incoming weather.
